When Self-Sabotage Feels safer than Surrender
Share
As women, we often carry silent battles no one sees. We smile on the outside while wrestling with fear, doubt, and the quiet temptation to give up on what God has called us to do. Sometimes, it feels easier to sabotage ourselves than to trust the unknown of God’s will.
We think, “If I fail myself, at least I was in control.” But true faith calls us deeper—it calls us to surrender control and believe that God is still moving, even when life looks nothing like the promise.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
The truth is, self-sabotage may feel like protection, but it’s really a barrier. It delays the very blessing God wants to release. Purpose was never about your perfection; it’s about your obedience. Even when the road feels uncertain, God is still guiding every step.
Reflection Questions
• Where am I allowing fear to block my obedience?
• How have I used excuses as protection instead of trust?
• What is one step of faith I can take today, even if it feels small?
Prayer
Lord, I confess that sometimes I choose excuses over faith. Heal my fears, and teach me to trust Your will even when it doesn’t make sense. I surrender my timing and my understanding for Your perfect plan. Amen.
