When Life doesn’t look like purpose

When Life doesn’t look like purpose

There are moments when life feels too heavy to carry, and purpose feels far away. For many of us on the journey of healing and recovery, the temptation to sabotage ourselves comes easy. We convince ourselves failure is safer than trusting God.

But here’s the truth: God didn’t call you to figure it out alone. He didn’t call you to be perfect. He called you to trust Him with every step, even when you stumble.

Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

That means no matter how broken the past feels, God still has a future with your name on it. Self-sabotage might feel familiar, but it robs you of hope. Trusting God feels risky—but it’s the only way forward.

Reflection Questions

How have I sabotaged my progress because of fear?

What would it look like to take one step of trust instead of one step back?

Where can I invite God’s strength into my weakness today?

Prayer

Father, I’m tired of getting in my own way. I want to trust You, but sometimes I feel afraid. Today, I surrender the urge to sabotage myself and I ask for the courage to keep moving toward the future You promised me. Lead me home to Your will. Amen.
