Soul Speaker’s Q&A Interview

Can you share your journey of how God led you from creating worldly music to Kingdom music?
Well, when I first started making music, I wasn’t as passionate about it, but I liked what I was doing. Worldly music was never my cup of tea, but it was all I could formulate, so I did it. It wasn’t until I came back from Passion Camp last year that the Lord gave me the words to say and the open heart to receive what He was telling me to share with His people.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when you decided to walk away from the world’s validation and follow Christ with your music?
The biggest challenge is having to do almost everything myself instead of having my usual team with me. But I still manage to pull it off though.
Many believers wrestle with using their talents in ways that honor God. What helped you surrender your gift to Him fully?
I’ve been wanting to do this, I just wasn’t sure how. It starts with God because He blessed us with the talents we have, but ultimately you have to open your heart to Him and let Him use you.
When society pressures us to “fit in,” how do you stay rooted in God’s purpose instead of compromising?
It’s a struggle every day because we are so influenced by what we see and hear. We have to keep our eyes on God and die to our flesh daily, meaning we have to surrender our desires and wants for His.
How do you hope your testimony and music impact young people who might be caught between culture and Christ?
I hope it helps them realize that following Christ is better than following the world. I was just like them at some point, and they can be better than me once they understand that God is the head of everything.
What encouragement would you give to someone who feels called to use their gift for God but is afraid of losing acceptance, popularity, or success?
Whoever or whatever you are afraid of losing will accept you and your decision if it’s all love and they respect you.
Looking back, what’s one specific moment where you knew God was confirming that you were on the right path?
When I got back from Passion Camp last year, I went through a lot that week. It was impossible to really make music, but I knew I was making the devil mad, so I kept going until I finally made “Forever 21.”
How do you balance creativity with accountability, making sure your lyrics always align with God’s Word?
I’m still working on it. I’m trying to balance my testimony with God’s Word. I’m not all biblical like Lecrae, but I still rap my testimony.
What scripture anchors you the most in this season of your journey?
Romans 12:21 – “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
If someone reading this feels stuck in the same place you once were—using their gifts for the wrong reasons—what would you say to them right now?
Pray and seek God. Let Him guide your talents so they honor Him.
